I have a square room with large windows on the south wall, a smaller window on the east wall, a closet on the north wall, and an empty east wall. I have a large bookcase, a small cabinet, and two desks I am trying to arrange to be practical but not overwhelm and crowd the room, especially since it’s all dark wood furniture. I’ve tried angling some of the pieces, separating the desks, putting the desks together to increase my workspace . . . I’m just confusing myself? Any suggestions? And please don’t suggest those furniture arranging programs, I’d really just like to hear people’s actual visions for arranging the furniture. Thank you!

i recently bought a beech coloured hard wood set of patio furniture…it was expensive but i bought it as i liked the colour of the wood.
my husband (when i was out) treated it with ‘teak oil’..and it has completely changed the colour…and i now **** it…so as you can imagine..we exchanged a few words!
my husband said it is the correct treatment for the wood…and it has to be treated. anybody know if this is true… are you supposed to coat outdoor wood in teak oil?? thank you for any serious answers.
p.s. he told me to ask on Yahoo…to prove he is right!!

It was made in 1990 by Stanley Furniture, and on the headboard it has 5414155 stamped on it. I am trying to buy a full headboard/footboard to match because I bought it with a twin size. Help!

Hi, I don’t know much about furniture other than saying something is cute or not, but I was told by a friend that I should stick with solid wood construction and avoid veneers, but I noticed that there are a lot of different varieties of wood used in different furniture sets. So far I’ve seen pine, maple, oak, alder, cherry, and mahogany. What’s the best? What makes it best? What makes other wood cheap or poor quality? And is there a site online that can help to better explain why I want a better quality wood for my furniture and what in fact makes it better? I’m really hoping someone can help me out because I want to buy a nice quality bedroom set and I don’t want to pay top dollar for junky furniture either. Thanks in advance.
What about this furniture? Does it seem okay? http://www.mybobs.com/catalog/set_view.asp?packageid=585&room=bedroom

I have a sleigh bed I believe is antique. It is made of a dark wood that seems to be somewhat soft. I would like to find out what kind of wood it is. Does anyone know how to tell?

saywhatkid asked:
We had movers put some of our wood furniture into storage for several months. When we moved the furniture into our new home, we found that the movers had used 2″ clear packing tape to keep drawers from sliding out in transport. When I tried to remove the tape, it either pulled some of the finish off, or left the glue residue. I would like to make the movers lick the tape off, but that option is not available. Anyone have this experience? Any solvents or techniques to salvage my furniture?
