Interior Lifestyle China opens its doors next week at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre with a programme of 13 seminars and special exhibits. Running for four days, 19 – 22 November, the show will also house an array of high-end interior and lifestyle products from around the globe. More than 200 exhibitors are confirmed, including companies from Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Korea, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Taiwan, UK and China.

The fair will feature the latest interior and lifestyle products including glass, porcelain, ceramics, cutlery, kitchen tools and appliances, arts and crafts, candles, other gift items, accessories, and soft furnishings.

International Home Accessories show to host on-site online interviews

Chinese Baby Furniture Company and Its President Indicted for Smuggling Internationally Protected Wood

Danny M. Chien, a Taiwanese citizen and resident of Shanghai, China, and Style Craft Furniture Co., Ltd., were each indicted today by a federal grand jury in Newark, N.J., on one count of smuggling, announced Ronald J. Tenpas, Assistant Attorney General for the Justice Departments Environment and Natural Resources Division and Christopher J. Christie, U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey.

The company, a manufacturer of wooden baby furniture located primarily in China, imported approximately $15 million in declared value of wood furniture in 2004-2005. Read more »

China Trade Fair for Household Products and Accessories

The debut “Interior Lifestyle China” opens its doors next week at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre. Running for four days, 13 – 16 September, the show will house a vast array of high-quality and luxury household and consumer items from all over the world. Around 180 exhibitors are confirmed, including companies from Belgium, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Spain, Taiwan and Thailand. Interior Lifestyle China will be the first fair of its kind, establishing a high-class marketing and sourcing platform for international brand names in the China market.

The fair will be divided into three areas: Dining, Giving, and Living. In the ‘dining’ area, visitors will find glass, porcelain, ceramics, cutlery, kitchen tools and appliances, and other dining and cooking-related products. ‘Giving’ will house products such as arts and crafts, candles and other gift items. Trade Show for Components, Accessories for the Furniture Industry

China International Furniture Exhibition

Asia’s landmark event for the furniture industry is getting ready for business in autumn, when it will open its doors from 12-15 September in Shanghai.As the first significant international event after the summer break in Europe, Furniture China returns with 1, 600 exhibitors on 220, 000 sq.m. exhibition space.Featuring Asia’s best designs and quality products, the show is expected to draw over 70, 000 visitors, including 12, 000 international buyers. In an attempt to balance growth, available exhibition space and visitors’ convenience, the organisers have appointed two venues to take pressure from the overbooked Shanghai New International Expo Centre.

The lack of exhibition space will be relieved in 2008 with two additional exhibition halls scheduled to be finished at SNIEC, adding 23, 000 sq.m. of floor space.Three more halls, with a floor space of 35, 000 sq.m. will be completed in 2009 and another set of three in 2010.It is expected that the 17th China International Furniture Expo in 2011 will become a show of about 350, 000 sq.m., then being the world’s second largest furniture show. All China Leather Exhibition, September 5 – 7, 2007

Since its establishment in 1998 the All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE) has grown in scope and size every year. Today it is recognized as being the most important and most international exhibition in China’s leather industry. ACLE 2007 will be held again concurrently with China International Footwear Fair (CIFF) and Moda Shanghai on September 5 – 7, 2007 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), Pudong, Shanghai, China.

Warburg Pincus in talks to buy stake in China furniture retailer: report

Private equity firm Warburg Pincus is in advanced talks for acquiring a major stake in Chinese retailer Red Star Furniture Group, reports quoting sources close to the deal said.

Warburg Pincus expects to acquire a little less than 50 per cent stake in Red Star even as China’s fast-growing home furnishing market draws increasing foreign interest.

The Shanghai-based Red Star is privately owned and operates 33 outlets, mostly in the affluent east coast. It sells furniture and home furnishings, targeting mostly to homeowners who are spending heavily on decorating newly purchased apartments. Read more »

Brazilian business owners travel to Shanghai to take part in furniture fair

Furniture business owners from the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais are to travel to China in September to take advantage of business opportunities presented at Furniture-13th International Furniture Fair.

The event will run from September 12 to 15 and over 1,500 exhibitors vying for a slice of the US$4.3 billion that Chinese consumers spend each year on buying furniture.

According to Paul Liu, the president of the Brazil-China Chamber for Economic Development (CBCDE), China’s furniture market is six times bigger than the European market. Read more »

China International Furniture Exhibition Set For September

Featuring Asia’s best designs and quality products, the show is expected to draw over 70,000 visitors, including 12,000 international buyers.

In an attempt to balance growth, available exhibition space and visitors’ convenience, the organisers have appointed two venues to take pressure from the overbooked Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). The new venues, Pudong Exhibition Centre and the Shanghai Science & Technology Museum, are located at a maximum of ten minutes’ drive from SNIEC. Another Shanghai expo and it’s Furniture this time, which has long been a unassuming heirloom in many families. With children, parents and grandparents living under one roof, pieces are simply passed on to sons and daughters within the household, enriched by the wear and tear from each succeeding generation. But if you’re not lucky enough to inherit pieces, why not buy them?

It is the sense of history and intimacy that has earned these furniture pieces, on display at the Shanghai International Furniture Expo, the attention of potential buyers.
