Oak Express ready for relocation from University Drive
Furniture Row and its four specialty stores for home furnishings are coming to Madison.
Furniture Row, which will open Aug. 4, has Oak Express, Bedroom Expressions, Sofa Mart and Denver Mattress Company stores. Based in Denver, Colo., Furniture Row Companies is the parent company to Oak Express and Bedroom Expressions, which are relocating from their former Huntsville address at 4830 University Drive.
“The 53,440 square foot center will bring a unique furniture shopping experience to the area,” said Bill McKendry, marketing director for Furniture Row Companies. “Unlike other furnishings retailers, our centers have four specialty stores at one destination.”
The staff at each store is knowledgeable about their specific lines. “And, best of all, they all guarantee their prices to be the lowest,” McKendry said.
C.R. Crawford Construction of Fayetteville, Ark., is the contractor and received a $3.2 million building permit from the city of Madison. “Furniture Row goes into high-growing areas,” Cody Crawford said. “They saw lots of upsize growth in Madison.” Read more »

Furniture Row Companies of Denver, Colorado, which currently owns and operates 330 stores in 32 states, plans to open four jointly located home furnishing and bedding specialty stores in Clarksville.
To house the stores, the furniture retailer plans to build a one-level, 53,440-square-foot Furniture Row Shopping Center.
Crews have begun erecting the structural steel for the new Center located at 4425 East Hwy 31 in Clarksville. Construction is anticipated to be completed by fall of 2007.

Furniture Row Cos., a Denver-based chain of home furnishing and accessory centers, wants to open its first Florida complex here.
Engineers representing the company recently applied to the St. Johns River Water Management District for approval of a stormwater management plan for two lots in the Interstate Commerce Park on North Tomoka Farm Road.
Bill McKendry, Furniture Row marketing director, said company officials were eager to get to the Sunshine State for a couple of reasons. “Obviously Florida is a growing state,” McKendry said in a telephone interview.
Also, the area is home to the NASCAR. Furniture Row is the sponsor of the No. 78 car driven by Kenny Wallace on the Nextel Cup series. Read more »

Furniture Row Cos. will open a new Furniture Row Shopping Center Saturday in Lansing, Mich.
The Denver-based company, parent of Oak Express and Bedroom Expressions, said the new center will have four stores: Oak Express, Bedroom Expressions, Sofa Mart and Denver Mattress Co.
Furniture Row is a family-owned specialty home furnishings and bedding retailer. It owns more than 350 stores in 31 states.

Furniture Row® Companies are expanding their presence in Spokane with the construction of a new Furniture Row Shopping Center. The Center will contain four specialty furniture stores in one convenient location. The Center is located at 13410 E. Indiana Ave., just past the Evergreen exit and west of the Valley Mall. The store’s brands include Oak Express®, Bedroom Expressions®, Sofa Mart® and Denver Mattress Company®. The new Center will open Friday, May 25, 2007. Construction has started on the 625,573-square-foot Building 9 at ProLogis Park 70 in Aurora.
Building 9 will be a national distribution center for Furniture Row Cos. of Denver when it’s finished later this year. Furniture Row owns the building and the 35 acres of land it occupies.
Furniture Row has more than 330 furniture stores in 31 states. Its stores operate under the names Sofa Mart, Oak Express, Bedroom Expressions and Denver Mattress.
Construction on the distribution center is under way, and scheduled to be completed in the third quarter.
Ware Malcomb of Los Angeles, one of this country’s largest architectural firms and a specialist in commercial buildings, designed the building. Murray & Stafford Inc. of Denver is the project’s general contractor. Read more »

Denver-based Furniture Row, which operates more than 330 storefronts, announced Wednesday that it is doubling the pace of store growth this year. It plans to add as many as 20 Furniture Row shopping centers — each of which holds up two four storefronts.
Calling Furniture Row one of the fastest growing furniture retailers in the country, the announcement said the company has opened eight to 10 Furniture Row Shopping Centers a year over the past four years. The centers house several storefront’s including Furniture Row’s Sofa Mart, Oak Express, Bedroom Expressions and Denver Mattress Company nameplates.
