What color paint would look best in a bedroom with cherry wood furniture?

My boyfriend and I bought a house and he has cherry wood bedroom furniture (2 dressers and 1 nightstand). I want to paint the walls a lighter color to reflect the light, and to offset the dark wood. Suggestions?

My bedroom furniture is very feminine and ornate. My favorite color is red. I don’t know how to choose a color or colors that will go with the black furniture
