THE Government has changed its mind and is now endorsing two furniture trade shows instead of one for the next two years, a move seen as protecting small furniture makers.
Business Times had previously reported that small- and medium-sized furniture manufacturers, who make up 80 per cent of Malaysia’s furniture makers, were concerned that they could be charged high exhibition rates with just one trade show.

American Furniture Warehouse Co. of Englewood, one of the country’s largest chains of furniture stores, is going the way of Wal-Mart Stores Inc.’s new, environmentally friendly superstores with its newest location.
The Colorado retailer plans to break ground on its 11th store, located in Firestone, on Nov. 30, and will unveil the facility’s special features at that time.
The sprawling, 521,000-square-foot store/warehouse will be located at Interstate 25 and Firestone Boulevard. The building is big enough to include nine-and-a-half football fields, according to the company. Read more »

For more than a quarter of a century the Henderson family has been providing top-of-the-line solid wood furniture to Bedford County homes. This week Henderson’s Furniture moved its showroom to the Forest area from its long-time Sedalia location.
“While we’ve done quite well there we knew sometime ago we needed to come this way to where our customer base is,” noted Roger Henderson president of the company. “The Forest area is our bread and butter.”
Henderson’s Furniture opened for business at Forest Village Square, Rt. 221, next to the Post Office in Forest on Nov. 5. Having started as an antique store in a 5,000 square foot barn in the north county area, the new store more than doubles the display area.
“In 28 years we’ve evolved from being an antique business to selling American made, hand-made solid wood furniture that is signed and dated by the maker and looks like antiques,” Henderson said. The sign out front says it all: classic American-made home furnishings. Read more »
