How can I remove scratches/dings from home furniture?
January 6th, 2010 Category Home Furniture
My cat has left a number of scratches on several pieces of our furniture including the wooden dinning room table. Is there anything available that could remove or at least hide the scratch marks?

Yes. This happened to me. My cat scratched up our coffee tables, end tables, and dressers. You can go to a hardware store like Home Depot and you can get these things they are like long crayons. They come in different wood colors so try and match it up as best as you can. You just rub the pencil/crayon over the scratch and it will fill it in. They are usually in the paint section near the wood filler.

I’m totally in love with Old English scratch cover. They make a version for light wood and one for dark wood. You can even buy a bottle of both and mix up a little of both to find the perfect blend.

Tibet Almond Stick…amazing. If you can find one, they are an old fashion product, they will last forever. Well maybe not forever, but I’ve had one for about 10 years. Doesn’t matter the color of the wood.
Including a link to the Vermont Country Store so you’ll know what it looks like. Or you can order it from there. It’s the kind of product you’ll find in a hardware store that sells everything.
Good luck.

Old English Polish has a product specifically for covering scratches. I have two large Maine Coon cats and they can do some damage. Old English will make the scratches less noticeable but it won’t remove them. It doesn’t work on really deep grooves however. You might want to purchase a stain pen in your furniture color to fill it. To make scratches go away would require sanding and re-staining.
