Albert L. Prillaman retakes chairman title from Stanley Furniture chief executive

Prillaman was chairman until 2005, when president and chief executive Jeffrey R. Scheffer took the additional role of chairman after Prillaman retired and became lead director.
Scheffer said in a statement the company asked Prillaman to return to take a “more active role in strategic matters,” due to the weak environment furniture makers are facing amid a housing slump.
Shares rose 44 cents, or 4.3 percent, to $10.58 during midday trading. The stock has traded between $9.30 and $23.74 during the past 52 weeks.
