Exhibit matches art with furniture

Visualize how to enhance your home with art during “Feels Like Home,” an exhibit in which artwork is coordinated with furniture, presented by Dezign Home and Lodestar Collective.

The show begins June 7 at Dezign Home, 455 Ward Ave. with an opening ceremony from 5 to 9 p.m. featuring the Iona Pear Dancers, live jazz, and light pupu, and runs to July 7.

A new product, Michelangelo, has significantly reduced that process by creating a single-coat faux finish paint.

Government Encourages Use of “Green” Office Furniture

Three Canadian firms are helping the federal government be more environmentally friendly after qualifying to provide the government with remanufactured office furniture.

With a combined value of $600,000, the Regional Master Standing Offers awarded to the three firms will help the government play a role in keeping office furniture out of Canada’s landfills.

“Given our purchasing volumes and our Policy on Green Procurement, the government is well-positioned to have a significant and positive impact on the environment,” said PWGSC Minister Michael M Fortier. “This is another example of our commitment to the environment.” Read more »

Furniture Row to open Lansing shopping center

Furniture Row Cos. will open a new Furniture Row Shopping Center Saturday in Lansing, Mich.

The Denver-based company, parent of Oak Express and Bedroom Expressions, said the new center will have four stores: Oak Express, Bedroom Expressions, Sofa Mart and Denver Mattress Co.

Furniture Row is a family-owned specialty home furnishings and bedding retailer. It owns more than 350 stores in 31 states.
