Furnishing A Home
June 28th, 2007 Category Furniture, Home FurnitureA new program with the Chattanooga Housing Authority is helping the homeless find shelter faster, but it’s creating a new problem.
Called the “Special Admissions Program,” it allows agencies like the Salvation Army and Chattanooga Rescue Mission to pre-screen folks for housing.
Those who make the cut usually have housing within a month.
The fast-track is good news, but makes furnishing the place a problem.
Theresa Biggs, Chattanooga Housing Authority and Chattanooga Apartment Assn. explains, “You know, if we could just meet one need a day, if we could just touch one person a day, and just be a blessing to somebody. I think that is huge.”
The C.A.A. says those in the program still need everything, ranging from furniture to cookware.
