Office furniture spending rises in line with tenant demand - commercial mortgages
May 17th, 2007 Category Furniture, Office FurnitureBusinesses with Commercial Mortgages are facing the associated costs of furnishing their offices, with new reports indicating an increase in the UK office furniture market.
According to new reports from Research and Markets the market for office furniture in the UK was worth over £908 million in 2005, up by 1.3 per cent on like figures for 2004.
Demand is on track to increase further following an increase in office occupancy last year, leading many businesses to have to furnish their new premises.
This includes those with recently entered Commercial Mortgages.
Changes in technological and working trends are affecting the type of furniture in demand, with smaller, flat screen computer monitors necessitating smaller desks. In addition the use of partitions and screens has declined in favour of open plan designs.
In other news, communities secretary Ruth Kelly is expected to announce plans to sell unused public buildings to community groups for as little as £1 at a time, seeking to benefit local communities.
