The South West’s brightest design-led furniture showroom uncovers this year’s must have furniture designs

Choosing furniture for your home can prove a tricky business with a number of important factors to consider such as size, shape, colour, style and feel. Not forgetting the very important issues of practicality and comfort, what should be an enjoyable shopping experience can easily become a time consuming and daunting task.

Until recently you may have had to source design-led contemporary furniture from outside the region but now those sought after pieces can be found right here at Exeter’s inspiring furniture showroom Tactile Living. Tactile Living boasts the very finest selection of modern and contemporary classics such as the Eames lounge chair by Vitra, the Aeron task chair by Herman Miller and the Charles sofa by B & B Italia. This exciting new showroom gives design enthusiasts the chance to buy iconic furniture classics without having to leave the Westcountry.

Bringing together a collection of striking furniture designs Tactile Living works closely with Architects and Developers as well as individuals looking to create stylish contemporary interiors for the home and work environments.

The showroom has a number of striking pieces on display including B & B Italia’s Le Bambole a stylish soft seating system defined by its single cushion that envelops the sitter. The recently re-launched Le Bambole has a fresh slimmed down shape emphasising its elegant lines and comes in a selection of distinct fabric finishes. Both space saving and incredibly comfortable it comes in both armchair and sofa options and is ideal for the TV room, Study or Den.

Also new to the showroom is the Knoll Studio’s Tulip Table designed in 1956 by Eero Saarinen who was renowned for creating striking sculpturally inspired furniture. Featuring a stunning marble top and fluid central table leg the Tulip Table strikes a balance between clean contemporary style and classic sophistication.

If you are looking for something light hearted you must take a look at the Panton Junior by Vitra designed by Verner Panton in 1960 this is a big design for small people. A real family favourite this bright cheerful chair comes in seven vibrant colours and children really love its smooth curves and funky shape. The Panton Junior is about 25% smaller than the adult version and is perfect for playrooms and bedrooms offering the perfect combination of good design and contemporary style.

Often the solution to successfully furnishing your living space in a stylish and classic way lies in the careful selection of individual pieces which not only reflect your own personality but will also give flexibility of use. So when is comes to furnishing your living space remember that classic design pieces get better with age and prove enjoyable and worthwhile investments.
