La-Z-Boy supplies furniture in every style Think again if La-Z-Boy isn’t the first place you think of for trendy furniture.

The company name is synonymous with those reclining chairs nearly everyone’s grandfather had in front of the TV. Now the company has aligned itself with furniture designer Todd Oldham. He has created a line of sofas, rugs, lamps and a large collection of home accessories with a definite retro 1950s feel.

There still are plenty of the company’s trademark arm chairs, sofas and loveseats to choose from if you are so inclined — or reclined.

But the company also has a Hamman line of furniture and accessory pieces in a contemporary style. These couches don’t recline.

One of my favorite pieces at the North Naples store is a coffee table in espresso finish with brushed stainless pulls. It usually sells for $919.98, but is now on sale for half price.

It is shown with a pale sea green sofa and loveseat in a stain-resistant micro fiber. The couch has a definite retro look with big buttons on the upholstery.

For that wow piece for the foyer, La-Z-Boy has several models of floor clocks between $1,500 and $2,000.

There are lots of items on sale right now, from furniture to accessories. One stand-out sale item is a chocolate-brown leather stationary chair and matching ottoman. The chair is on sale for $1,129.98 and the ottoman is on sale for $519.

There are accessory furniture and decorative pieces in Asian, classical, Mediterranean and modern styles.

A nine-drawer chest with Asian influence is painted in a crackly red. It sells for $819.98 and is on sale for 50 percent off.

There are several varieties of bar cabinets. The one I like best looks like an Art Deco piece with leaves carved into the front. It sells for $2,529.98 and is half off.

Oldham’s furniture collection includes the Viva sectional couch. There are two furniture modules, one a corner piece with back support on two sides and the other a middle piece with back support on one side.

The corner piece usually sells for $819 but is on sale for $579.98. The middle section usually sells for $689.98 but is on sale for $579.98.

La-Z-Boy has a wide variety of upholstery and drapery fabric styles and colors to choose from. Custom upholstery choices are available.

Actually, the sleeper sofa in my den is from La-Z-Boy. It has an air mattress you blow up when the bed is in use. The rest of the time, it deflates and easily folds into the couch.

It’s called a SlumberAir mattress system, designed for La-Z-Boy, and they sell from $1,199 for a standard size with cloth upholstery to $2,500 for a leather couch in queen size.

It’s a place to shop when both style and price matter.
