Furnishing pitfalls
July 31st, 2006 Category Furniture, TipsWhen trying to furnish an apartment on the cheap, interior designers say these are things to avoid:
• Rent-to-own: Probably not a good option. You’ll be forking out daily interest on furniture you’ll eventually own, which means you’re overpaying. There’s always the chance you won’t want the item once you’ve paid it off, too. Buy when you can; wait if you can’t.
• Overbuying: Too many people spend on things they don’t need. Stick to necessities and things that are easy to move to your next place.
• Transporting: Don’t forget to factor in the logistics of getting furniture from the store to your living space. Some places deliver, but if you’re not that lucky, beg a friend to let you borrow a truck.
