Economic incentives are expected to help keep a Lansing office furniture company in the area and add new jobs.
Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero and Smart Office Systems President Paul Covert said Monday that the company will open a new corporate headquarters near Capital City Airport in Lansing. Smart Office Systems’ main office currently is at 2110 S. Washington St.
Bernero said in a statement SOS is “poised” to create 15 jobs with growth at the new location and add $300,000 to Lansing’s tax base. According to the Lansing State Journal’s list of largest tri-county area office furniture dealers, Smart Office Systems has 60 employees.
The city council is expected to consider incentives offered at tonight’s council meeting at 7 p.m.
