YWCA opens furniture store
April 3rd, 2006 Category Furniture, Furniture StoreThe YWCA of Pueblo will host the grand opening of its new furniture store, Repeat Home Furnishings at 115 Broadway Ave., at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
The store will offer “gently used” furniture and accessories at affordable prices, both consignments and donations, for the benefit of the YWCA.
The Greater Pueblo and Latino chambers of commerce will participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday.
In the interest of maintaining the YWCA’s self-sufficiency and diversifying revenue streams, proceeds from Repeat Home Furnishings will benefit the premier programs of the YWCA of Pueblo: the Family Crisis Shelter, the counseling program for children who have witnessed domestic violence, the warm water aquatics program, the Children’s Learning Center at PCC and the Infant, Toddler and Preschool Development Center at Keating.
Repeat Home Furnishings will also offer the women of the Family Crisis Shelter program an opportunity to obtain job experience while working at the store. Many women seeking refuge from domestic violence are without work-related skills.
The YWCA of Pueblo has been in existence in our community since 1914. In 1978, the YWCA became a place of refuge and healing for women and children who are victims of domestic violence.
For information regarding donating your gently used furniture and home accessory items, please contact Alis Mehess, store manager, at 544-1776.
Repeat Home Furnishings will be open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
