Vietnamese firms to attend ASEAN furniture show
February 25th, 2006 Category Events, FurnitureThirty-five Vietnamese wood furniture makers plan to attend Asia’s premier furniture fair next month in Singapore.
The 23rd ASEAN Furniture Show, to be held March 1-5, is expected to attract exhibitors from over 100 countries.
Last year 23 Vietnamese businesses participated, inking contracts worth US$4.5 million.
Vietnam earned over $1.5 billion from wood furniture exports last year to place among the world’s 15 largest wooden products exporters. The item ranks among the country’s export staples along with crude oil and textile in terms of value.
Annual global demand for wood furniture is expected to top $200 billion, according to the Vietnam Timber and Forest Production Association.
Besides the US and EU, their largest importers, Vietnamese businesses are also trying to tap into the Asian market.
