The city of Greenwood has rented a building to Gossco Inc., which plans to build “hospitality” furniture - dressers, night stands and headboards - generally used by hotel chains.

Company owner Travis Goss said this week the company will have 25 employees initially and plans to expand to 100 in a few years.

He said the company also will make cabinets for apartment complexes. On Tuesday, the Greenwood City Council approved renting the former Uniek Inc. building to Goss.

City Attorney Billy Bowman said that Goss’ business is the kind that the city is looking for.

“It’s a very clean operation,” he said. “It’s a noise-free, pollution-free entity.”

The city owns the property, which it purchased with the former Choctaw Manufacturing site in 2003.
