The brand new Ashley Furniture Homestore is now open for business. Situated in the former DART Thrift shop at 414 W. Ridgecrest Blvd., the store is a feast of textures and colors.

Owners Bill Farris, Paul Farris Jr. and Mike McGee began putting the concept together about six months ago.

“We visited some Ashley Homestores and were very impressed with the quality and variety of their products,” said Bill Farris. “This store is exclusively Ashley products — with the exception of Sealy mattresses and some accessories.”

Established in 1945, Ashley is the largest manufacturer of furniture in the country and the number-one selling brand of home furniture in the U.S.

Farris said the partners, MPB Furniture, are all longtime Ridgecrest residents and wanted to contribute something to the community.

The store features living room, dining room, casual dining, motion furniture, entertainment centers, bedroom sets, and home office furniture in a wide array of styles, materials and prices. Shoppers will find carpets, lamps, mirrors, art, ceramic and glass accessories, and a host of other accent pieces.

The Kid’s Fun Zone corner features an assortment of children’s bedroom sets to fit different ages and interests.

Three TV playstations are ready to entertain the youngsters while mom and dad shop. Large-screen TVs will keep dad abreast of the doings on the sports scene while mom chooses home decor.

Currently there are 28 employees, who along with several local contractors, have worked very hard to make this happen, Farris said.

Ashley corporate office personnel have also been on hand to support and train the staff.

Financing will be available on furniture purchases, as well as shopping via the Web site, www.ashleyhomestores.com.

Ashley Furniture Homestore will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
